Vanessa Ann Stewart

Online Condolences

Ryan Pfannenstiel,      Manhattan, KS

To the Stewart family,

Though we've never met, I felt compelled to write a few words, and express just how deeply sorry I am for your loss.  I am a longtime Manhattan resident, and I have to say, you're family has sure made an impression over the Wildcat nation during these past four years.  There are many here that are deeply saddened by this event.  Please be strong, and know that you're entire Wildcat family have you in their thoughts and prayers.

God bless.
KSU,    Manhattan/KSOur thought and prayers go out to the Vanessa and the Stewart family.  What a wonderful and strong woman.
Debbie Hughes,     Hoyt, KS

I am a Kansas State graduate, class of '90, and I go to all the men's home basketball games.  This is where I developed a special appreciation for Clent, and not only his gift as an athlete, but his wonderful personality and extreme kindness.  It meant so much to see Venessa at the home games when she could be there, and the tremendous support she showed KSU, and especially her son.  She will be dearly missed, and I wanted to share with the family how sorry I am for your loss, and to let you know that my prayers, as well as thousands of other K-State fans all over the land, are being raised on behave of your family.  We care so much for what you are going through.  Deb

Dear Clent (and Family),

I am really sorry for your loss! I just read the story about you and your mom in the KC Star a few weeks ago and it was really touching. From what I read, your mother was quite the wonderful lady and you were quite the son. I’m sure she was very, very proud of you inasmuch as your K-State family is. Our prayers are with you and I hope that you and your family will find peace in God through this tough time.

From one wildcat to another…

I just want to say to the Stewart family my deepest condolences for the loss of Vanessa. If anything could be said from what I have read about her is that she was a kindred spirit. We all share in your grief and offer our a shoulder to take the weight of her loss. Vanessa and her family will be forever in my prayers

Clent Stewart has been one of my favorite players at KSU because his achievements on the court mirrored his academic accomplishments. Seeing his mother and family in attendance at the games reinforced my thinking that he came from a great family that provided strong support. We are so sorry for the deep loss felt by the family and can only hope that Clent and the Stewart family will feel enormous strength and encouragement that comes  that from the thoughts and prayers of his Wildcat family in Manhattan.

While we have never met, your family is and always be part of the Wildcat family.  As memebers of the Wildcat Family we stick together and console each other during difficult times.  Your family is in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  Watching Clent grow as a Wildcat and watching your family experience it with him has been a treat.  I know that Vanessa will be watching down on the Wildcats this season and always cheering them on to another Wildcat Victory!  God Bless!

Life...
Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what's to be.
A resting place along the road to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys, different paths along the way, we all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay...
Our destination is a place far greater than we know.
For some, the journey's quicker, for some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends, we'll claim a great reward, and find an everlasting peace together with the Lord.

My condolences and  prays go out to the Stewart Family.
Oldefella,  Topeka, KS

We pray, dear soul, that you watch in peace, now, as your son and his teammates at Kansas State progress.  You were an important part of our lives even though many of us never had a chance to say "hello" much less "thank you."  Thank you for sharing your joys and dreams, your strength, your passion and your son with us.  You've enriched us all.  Sleep well and with blessings.
Jim & Marilee Whelan,   Manhattan, KSTo the Stewart family, please accept our sincerest sympathies for your loss.  Although we have never met, we feel like we know you.  Vanessa will be missed by the entire Wildcat family.  All of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

To the Stewart Family,

Please know that the love of my family and the entire Wildcat Nation goes out to you all in this time of sorrow for your family. My family too has been altered forever by cancer. I lost my aunt just a little more than 2 years ago. To paraphrase Jimmy V, cancer can take the body, but it can never touch Vanessa wonderful spirit. Although we can never truly know your pain, please know that she will be greatly missed by the entire KSU Family.

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. I sat to the left of the Stewarts in section 2 at K-State basketball games. When Vanessa and her husband would arrive at their seats, the entire arena would light up. That's the kind of impact she had. She inspired us all with her character, her class and her love for her son, Clent.

We all are better people for having witnessed the unbreakable bond the Stewarts have. We thank you for allowing us to share in that love and for being a part of our Wildcat family.

Clent, this road you're now on is not an easy one. But you have carried yourself with such dignity and grace, and we are so very proud of you. We know your mother is watching from heaven, smiling at the fabulous man that you've become. She will always be with you deep inside your heart where cancer can never touch, and you will always be with her.

I hope you can feel the love and prayers from all across the Wildcat Nation.

Heaven is a better place today because Vanessa Stewart is there. May you feel that she is at peace and that her love lives on.

May God bless you always.

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. (romans 12:12)  Today, instead of turning things over in our minds, let us turn them over to God in prayer. Instead of worrying about our decisions, let's trust God to help us make them.  Today, let us pray constantly about things great and small. God is listening, and He wants to hear from us. Clent, Very sorry about your Mom.  I lost my Dad to cancer this past summer, and I know it is a very difficult time. Hope to see you back on the court soon, but right now, family is what's important. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Garth & Amanda Gardiner, Ashland, KS

Stew & Family;
Losing a loved one like you all have puts life in perspective.  We (fans) put so much emphasis on wins and losses, we often will lose our perspective of what is truly important in life.

Seeing the strength that Mrs. Stewart exhibited was inspiring.  Seeing the strength that you and your family have had is equally inspiring.

Many of us "think" we have bad days and tend to take it out on others.  I never once saw Mrs. Stewart "look" like she was having a "bad" day, when in reality, her days were worse than most any of us could ever imagine.  However she always wore a smile.  What a wonderful example she was of how to live your life.  I'm sure she taught you all many things in life, but please know that she taught so many of us many things too.

While words can't help heal the pain and hurt that you all have now, please know that you are all in our prayers and that somewhere up in Heaven, Vanessa Stewart is cheering "Bring On The Cats" and waving a great big purple pom-pom for #5.

God bless all of you.

Garth & Amanda Gardiner

Clent, we have never had the pleasure to meet you personally, but we feel like we know you from our daughter, Shalee.  She has talked about you so much and what a wonderful person you are on and off the basketball court.  Our oldest daughter Andrea and her family had the pleasure of spending time with you last summer when you and Shalee worked the Andover basketball camp.  Our grandchildren, Saylor and Max fell in love with you immediately and Andrea and Justin ranted and raved about you.  We hope some day we will have the pleasure to meet this wonderful young man who inspires so many.  God needed another angel to watch over all of us.  Vanessa has inspired so many and has provided a ministry to those suffering from this wretched disease. Remember the fun times you have shared...the hugs, smiles, laughs, talks...all wonderful memories you will hold deep in your heart.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time.
Randy Greenwood,   Hugoton, KansasTo Clent and the whole family,

I offer my best wishes and prayers for your entire family in this time of loss. Losing a parent is very hard because a good mother like Vanessa loves you without conditions in a world where that kind of love is rare. Parents that love you and are there for you is what makes families strong. A mother's love gives comfort, and a safe haven. Vanessa may be gone from this earth, but her spirit lives on and you will continue to feel her love within you. When you need her guidance listen to your heart and think what mom would say and do when the times come and you need her. I know she will watch over you all every day and rejoice in your triumpths and suffer with you in your set backs. A mother's love never dies but carries on. Thank you so much for picking K-State to play BB. It is a thrill to watch you play. We are proud to have you in our K-State family. Peace be with you and all your family.
Sincerely,

We are so sorry for the suffering your family has endured.  Clent you have always represented yourself in an admirable manner.  I have no doubt much of that is attributable to your mother.
Whether it has been on the court, at camps or umpiring in the Manhattan Parks and Recreation program the last two summers you have conducted yourself in a manner that has been favorably impressed upon many youth (and parents).  Thank-you for all that you have contributed to our community.  Our condolences to your family.

I was saddened today to hear than Vanessa had lost her battle with cancer. My family meet the Stewarts several years ago when our son, Scott, played basketball with Clent at Union High School in Tulsa. Even though Clent was the star player on the team, there was never any hint of him acting or thinking he was better than the others.  In fact, it was just the opposite...he was humble, kind and giving, even to the point of taking the younger players, like my son, under his wing. To this day, my son stays in contact with Clent and considers him a mentor and a friend.  It was obvious where Clent's character came from...his parents's, Clent Sr. and Vanessa.  They were people of high moral and personal character and a pleasure to be around. My wife has been battling cancer for the past 18 months, and often mentions Vanessa and her battle with cancer as an inspiration to her. I pray that the memories of Vanessa and the certainty of her entry into heavan will be a great comfort to all her family. I know she will be greatly missed by all.

In The Loss of your Love One.
It hurts very deeply when we lose someone we love.  But in the midst of the heartache and confusion. It is comforting to know we can find peace in the presence of Jesus. He understands our hurt and desires to heal the pain. Which has touched us so deeply. During this time of sorrow, May you find new strength.
