| Paul was our friend and volunteer in the
Education Center, NRHS. As his project supervisor, I rarely had to give him
direction because he had it under control, and took care of it quickly &
willingly--to say he went "above & beyond" would be an understatement!! All of
us who came in contact with Paul grew to love and care about him as our friend
and helpful volunteer. We are saddened by his passing--Paul will be greatly
missed by Center staff, Educators, Caterers, everyone! Cheryl Perkins |

| Dear Brown Family:
We only had the opportunity to know Paul for the past 2-3 years, through The
Health Club. His smiling presence, personality, and wit are greatly missed in
our Senior Aerobics class.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. |

| As adults Paul never told me he was my
friend. I never told him either. It didn't need saying. We spent our childhood
together most days. The bond was there and very deep.
We played marbles and hopscotch, checkers, baseball and chase...we made our own
adventures gleamed from our homes and yards and a neighborhood of
tolerant-to-kids neighbors. We dug holes, cut flowers and dandelions, made
tools and toys, played cowboys and Indians, and war. We even burned a hole in
the south side of the Anderson garage. Seems we needed to know how matches
really worked. There were "road trips" in Grandpa Brown's broken down coupe.
Joyus times, even though Paul did most of the driving. We could see the world
and then some through our "rose-colored-glasses" of imagination.
Paul made my childhood alive and wonderful as our siblings seemed to hear other
adventures calling them. I counted upon his friendship and our childhood time
together. I thought I would own that time together with him forever. And I do
own those memories, but now a grief is added: that of my mourning his death. I
have missed his laughter, enthusiasm, his love of living all of our adult life.
He gave me riches of so many kinds. His death saddens me---it is a wide gulf in
the depths of my heart.
I wanted all of you to know how special he was even to me, so far away and so
insignificant.
My sincerest sympathies I send to his sons and brothers and sisters, Aunt
Arlene, cousins, nieces and nephews --all that follow him. May you feel God's
amazing grace and comfort and know His blessings that surround you in heart and
spirit as you walk your own path in life.
Respectfully,
Susan Marie Collins Hathorne
