The Staff from Iowa Girls State wishes to express their condolences to Maxine and Lyndol's family on his passing.  We have lost not only a fantastic photographer, we have lost a friend who became family to us.  Lyndol was the Iowa Girls State photographer for 43 years.  It is the end of an era and we know there will never be another Lyndol again for us. It was amazing to watch him get 300 plus, 17 year old girls lined up, to capture their smiles.  His line of "Smile and think of your boyfriends back home" brought smiles to their faces.  But his next line of "Now think of someone else's boyfriend" brought giggles, laughter, and bigger smiles to their faces.  Lyndol and Maxine were very generous to our program over the years.  They never let a girl go home without a picture who could not afford one.  They donated flags and a scholarship every year and continually asked what else they could do to support our program.  People like Lyndol and Maxine only come by once in a lifetime
.  We feel fortunate and blessed it was in our lifetime.  We will miss him next June at Iowa Girls State but we will remember him with fondness and love as we take our Staff picture and remember his favorite word he always had us say to bring a smile to our faces.  May God Bless him and look over Maxine and their family!

Maxine,
I think about you every day and you having to go through what Dad did. I send up little prayers that you, Dad, the aunts, and grandmother will be able to walk through this grief and come out the other side where only the love and wonderful memories remain. - Debi
