Gayle A. Smouse, née Womack, a native and long-time resident of Norman, died Saturday, November 18th at her home, with her two boys at her side.
Born September 26, 1939, Gayle graduated from Norman High School in 1957. She continued her education at St. Anthony nursing school, graduating with her RN diploma in 1960.
Gayle was a nurse in Oklahoma City, Dallas and finished her nursing career at Norman Regional Hospital. She continued to represent Norman Regional Hospital as their nurse recruiter.
Gayle greatly enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, gardening and homemaking. She was also an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Most of all, she cherished spending time with her grandsons.
Gayle is survived by her two sons, Jeff and Chris; 2 grandsons, Grey Smouse of Austin, Texas and Joel Smouse of Oklahoma City; brother, John Womack, Jr. of Cambridge, MA; two sisters, Pat Collins and Shirley Olivarri of Norman and many other family members and friends. Gayle was preceded in death by her mother Agnes Schader Womack, her father John Womack and her twin brother Gary Womack.
Gayle’s arrangements were placed under the care of Havenbrook Funeral Home. A celebration of Gayle's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 29th at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street, Norman.
