April 9, 1932 ~ December 1, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Juanita DeHoyos Silva, 85, of Norman, OK was born in Robstown, Texas, on April 9, 1932, to Manuel and Petra DeHoyos.

She passed away peacefully with her family at her side after a short illness on December 1, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Baldomero Silva; son Baldomero Silva Jr.; daughters, Carmelita Silva, Lydia Silva  and grandchildren, Michael Silva and Lesa Davis.

One of Juanita's greatest joys was in the care of her great grandson, Jaxon Swafford.  She initially moved from Shelby, Ohio, to Norman in July 2003 to help with the 3 month old baby while his mom worked. Mrs. Silva was a homemaker and would prepare tortillas every day for her large family. She loved shopping, playing bingo and traveling.

She loved her many trips and cruises to Mexico, the Caribbean and going to Disney World.  She even enjoyed the ever changing weather in Oklahoma. If a tornado warning would sound, she would throw her bed covers over her head and say the tornado would have to “find her first”.

Survivors include brothers, Robert DeHoyos, Willard, OH, Manuel DeHoyos, Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Delia Howell, Norman, OK, Lena Davis, Houston, TX, son, Leandro Silva, Beaumont, TX; grandchildren, Marita Swafford, Norman, OK, Baldomero Silva III, Angie Ebert, Columbus, Ohio, Erica Davis, Chicago, Il, Trent Davis, Houston, TX, Elijah Davis, Houston, TX, Terry Davis, Houston, TX, David Silva, Austin, TX, Timothy Silva, Beaumont, TX and Travis Silva, Amarillo, TX. Juanita had over 20 great grandchildren that included Krystal Nicole Swafford, Jaxon Swafford and Arianne Scott all of Norman, OK and three great-great grandchildren in Norman and many nieces and nephews.
