Kimberly Sue (Filkins) Olesen

August 13, 1965 ~ April 16, 2024 (age 58) 58 Years Old

Tribute

Kimberly Sue Olesen much beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away at her home in Noble, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the age of 58.  Her passing comes after a lengthy battle with cancer.  She was born August 13, 1965, in San Antonio, Texas.  Her parents were Norman Glen Filkins and Janet Naomi Weissman.

During her life, she had the opportunity to live in Colorado, Frankfurt and Berlin Germany, Maryland, Virginia, Oklahoma and Texas where she graduated from Rider High School in Wichita Falls, Texas.  As a young woman, Kimberly spent nearly a decade with the Wichita Falls Ballet Corps.  Ballet was a passion that never waned during her life.  She continued to study and teach dance at different times throughout much of her life.

On March 9, 1985, Kimberly and the love of her life, Eric Olesen, were sealed for time and all eternity in the Dallas temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  During their 39 years together, they welcomed three children and two grandchildren into their lives.

During her life she taught ballet, worked with special needs children, catered events and weddings, making beautiful wedding cakes.  In the latter years of her life, she worked as an Area Sales Representative for Rug Doctor, covering a territory that covered all of Southern Oklahoma and sometimes parts of Northern and Western Texas.

Kimberly truly was filled with, and was a great example of, the love of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Kimberly loved deeply, genuinely and unconditionally.  She had an overwhelming desire to help and please others.  She was an exemplary wife, mother and human being.

She was strong of spirit and honest to a fault.  She was beautiful, but never prideful.  She could just as easily spend the day helping special needs children as she could attending a diplomatic function at an embassy in Europe with Eric.  She was just as comfortable in a dress and heels at church as she was on a motorcycle, wearing a helmet and full leathers, tearing up a mountain road.  If there was tornado clean up to be done, she was often to be found working alongside Eric picking up tree limbs or repairing a roof.  She was very strong and had a handshake that took grown men by surprise.  Regardless of whether she was boot skootin’ at a country and western dance hall or dancing to Swan Lake on stage, she was always elegant and always a lady.

Kimberly Sue Olesen is survived by her husband of 39 years, Eric Olesen; her children, Ian Olesen, Sariah Thomas and Kirstin Olesen; her grandsons, Xavier and Oliver Olesen; her birth mother, Cynthia DiNanno; her brother, Scott Filkins; her half-brother, Rob Landry; half-sisters, Ann McNeil, Theresa Hadaegh and Jeanette Jones, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws.
