Russell “Rusty” Lewis Carpenter, 68, was born March 3, 1949 in Seminole, Oklahoma, the son of Norman Howard Carpenter and Louise (Reynolds) Carpenter. Rusty went on to join a host of family and friends in heaven on March 19, 2017. He graduated from Ulysses High School and attended Hutchinson Jr. College before graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State College in Kansas. He also went to various drilling and production schools for Oxy USA, Inc. In Ulysses, KS he owned and operated a roustabout, trenching and backhoe/dozer company, settled damages for drilling pipelines for large production companies and a partner of a waste company. Rusty and Allison relocated to Norman, OK and started a new waste management company and had a feed and tack store at Remington Park. He then retired in 2015. Rusty was married 42 years to Allison (Lewis) Carpenter. He leaves behind a son Dustin and his wife, Avery; grandchildren: Braxton and Rylee of Moore, OK; daughter, Nicole Stanford and her husband, Brandon; grandchildren: Elysia, Blake, Luke and Elyvia of Norman, OK. Also surviving is his nephew, Bret Carpenter of Norman, OK. Rusty was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Don Carpenter. Rusty enjoyed OU sports, horseracing and Red River, NM. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, President of Ulysses Kansas High School Booster Club, on the Board of Directors of Brent Wood Golf Course, Vice-President and board of Director of Kansas Quarter Horse Racing Association and board of Director of Eisenhut Condominium Association in Red River, NM. Rusty was most proud of his children and grandchildren and being able to watch them grow in everything they do. Services to celebrate Rusty’s life will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the Chapel of Havenbrook Funeral Home with Chaplain Carl Criswell officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Rusty’s name.
