Addie Mae Dickerson, 99, of Norman passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019. She was born December 3, 1920 in Newcastle, OK to Jack and Millie Walker.
Addie Mae Dickerson worked for TG&Y from 1942-1985 where she held the title of Floor Manager. She started at the “5 & Dime” store location and was part of the team that opened the Family Center. She was an active member of the St. Joseph’s Golden Agers and Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed ceramics, cooking, crocheting and more importantly spending time with her family. Her “Mac & Cheese” and pies were legendary among family and friends! Addie Mae was a member of the Chickasaw tribe and her grandfather was Tandy Walker, Governor of the Choctaw, first enrollee on the Chickasaw Roll and her father was second.
She is preceded in death by parents Jack and Millie Walker; husband Tommy and grandson James Darren Dickerson; three brothers Jody, Woody and JT and sister Vera. She is survived by son Jim and wife Sharon; granddaughter Sherri and husband Doug Rogers; great grandsons Darren and Trevor and wife Sarah; niece Dee Ann Gill and husband Carl; niece Maxine Huffelfinger; nephews Wayne Walker and wife Sandy and Tom Walker and many other family members and friends.
The family will be present to receive friends from 5 pm.-7 p.m., Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Havenbrook Funeral Home at 3401 Havenbrook Drive, Norman. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Chapel at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 421 E. Acres Street, Norman with interment following at IOOF Cemetery in Norman.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Thomas Merrill and nurse Pam Levy; the staff of Ramblings Oaks Assisted Living Center; Good Shepherd Hospice and longtime friend Martha Pennington for their wonderful care and support of Addie Mae.
