Tribute

Andrew Anthony Vogt, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at the age of 70.

Andy was born on January 17, 1950, in Paderborn, Germany to Tadeusz Vogt and Danuta Ziarniewicz Vogt.

Andy attended Rutgers University and graduated from the University of Oklahoma where he pursued Russian Studies and Social Work and received a Masters.  He knew many languages and his intelligence on a broad range of subjects was immense. Andy worked as a General Contractor and Brick Mason in Norman for 50 years and was known by everyone as an artist and perfectionist who took great pride in his work.  Everyone knew they could call Andy at any hour of the day and he would drop everything to come and help or give them the shirt off his back. His heart was incredibly generous and his sense of humor was infectious.  He made lifelong friends everywhere he went. He was an ornery character who could find humor and light in any situation and make everyone laugh.   His spirit and charm would light up the room.

Andy also enjoyed computers, reading and learning all he could about history, politics and sports.  He was a life-long Sooner fan and we all knew not to bother him when OU was playing. He was a wonderful husband and father and we were so fortunate to have had him in our life. He was a unique soul who loved and took great care of his family and cats. He will be missed tremendously by everyone who knew him.

Andy is survived by his wife, Patricia Sue Cassidy of Norman; his daughter, Wendy Cassidy and Luke Freese of Dallas, Texas, his brother, Gregory and Christine Vogt of Long Island, New York; nephews, Christopher and Mathew Vogt of New York; many friends; and his beloved cats who will miss him dearly.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Tadeusz Vogt and Danuta Ziarniewicz Vogt of South River, New Jersey; and his daughter, Lisa Cassidy of Norman, Oklahoma.

Memorials may be made in memory of Andy to Second Chance Animal Sanctuary or the Salvation Army of Norman.
