Archie William Mangus, 79, left to be with our heavenly father on Monday, January 6th, 2020.  He was born on March 26th, 1940 in Foss, Oklahoma to John H. and Ida M. Mangus.

Archie grew up in Enid, Oklahoma.  He attended Enid High School.  He married Mary D. Lewellen on December 18th, 1960, his High School Sweetheart of 4 years.  He and Mary later moved to Norman in April of 1965.  He became an entrepreneur for Arway Termite and Pest Control in October of 1977.  He retired from Arway in the year 2000.

Archie had several hobbies that he participated in.  From working Stock Dogs to Cutting Horses and sponsoring various FFA/Agricultural students and youth groups, he enjoyed every moment of his hobby interests.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and dog training.  He had several exciting and meaningful moments in his life.  He enjoyed taking care of the Stock Dog trials at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.  He also participated in various Reining Horse Shows throughout Oklahoma. Archie would often enjoy raising cattle on his rural land.  His favorite past time was working with and training his two Toy Australian Shepherds, Trixie and Gracie.

He is preceded in death by his son, John William Mangus, his father, John H. Mangus, and his mother, Ida M. Mangus.  He is also preceded in death by his three brothers, Lloyd, Orville, and Carlin Mangus, and his two sisters, Bessie Franklin and Dorothy Osborn.  

Archie William Mangus is survived by his wife, Mary D. Mangus, of the home.  He is also survived by his son, David and his wife, Pat of Tribbey, Oklahoma, his daughter, Deborah Mangus Capparelli and her husband, Paul of Sacramento, California, and his youngest daughter, Stacey Mangus-Robinson and her husband, Vin of Atlanta, Texas. 

Archie is survived by four grandchildren:  David Mangus, Jr. and his wife, Kacie of Decatur, Texas, Jacob Mangus and his wife, Mikayla of Tribbey, Oklahoma, Jennifer Mangus of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Mandi Weissner of Dallas, Texas.  Archie is survived by his great granddaughter, Brooklyn Mangus of Decatur, Texas. 

Archie thoroughly enjoyed living his Christian life for 79 years. He was a strong Christian, believer, advisor, and role model for his family and other Christians.  His family and friends are very appreciative and thankful for his words of wisdom and the example that he has set for others.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.  Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2020 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastor John Gifford, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman.
