Barbara Ann Vaughn

Barbara Ann Vaughn, age 88, of Oklahoma City, passed away December 19, 2021.  She was born July 1, 1933, in Shidler, Oklahoma.  Barbara was a fine Christian woman who grew up attending First Baptist Church in Shidler, and later Ralston Bible Church in Ralston.  She loved to sing and had a wonderful voice.

She was a member of the White Rose Club in Skedee, Oklahoma, and won Homemaker of the Year at the state level.  Barbara was very active in her community and worked to make changes in her state and nationwide.  She was a lobbyist for the passing a mandatory seatbelt law and helped to implement the 911 program in Pawnee County.  Barbara also developed an educational recycling program for children, Recycle Annie, which she later gifted to OSU.

Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband in 2010, Floyd Walker; father, Manley Steed Raney; mother and step-father, Ruth Ellen Raney-Roper and Jim Roper; “adopted parents”, Bill and Mary Coon; great granddaughter, Lennon Jessie Elledge; three sisters; five brothers; and dear friend, Virgie Haines.

She is survived by her husband of eight years, Douglas E. Vaughn; daughter, Sheila A. Walker and husband Robert Gunn; son, Ronald Walker and wife Karen; step-daughters, Kathy Kinkead and Charlotte Forrester; step-son, Lonnie Vaughn; grandchildren, Tera Elledge and husband Jake, Rachele Upton; Kyle Walker, Bob Gunn, John Gunn, Shayla Gunn, Kayla Gunn, Luke Kinkead, Rebecca Kinkead, Kyle Forrester and Heather Forrester; great grandchildren, Gibson Elledge, Londyn Parker Elledge, Bradley A. Upton and Walker Z. Upton; sisters-in-law, Donna Walker and Bernice Raney; and beloved friend, A’bell McCaslin.
