Beverly Dene Bodenstein Bailey was born on August 18, 1945, to Albert Bodenstein and Laverne Thomas Bodenstein, who resided in Apache, OK. Beverly grew up and loved spending time with her dad and mom who owned and operated gas stations in Porter Hill, OK, then Clinton, OK, and finally in 1957 Hobart, OK, where she graduated high school in 1963.
Later, she and her daughter, Shelley, lived in Apache, OK, while Beverly worked at the Ft. Sill Army Hospital as a secretary and then met and married Danny Bailey, who had a daughter, Danya. They moved to Clinton, OK, where Beverly was a mom, homemaker, and bookkeeper at the TH Rogers Lumber Company that her husband Danny managed for many years. They established a home and made great friends and memories in Clinton. They attended and were members of First Baptist Church Clinton and were lifelong Clinton Red Tornado football fans.
In the early 90's, Beverly and Danny purchased from Laverne Bodenstein the 40 room HiWay Inn Motel in Hobart, OK. They owned and managed the motel together until 2002, when Danny passed away. Beverly continued to operate the motel by herself until she sold it a few years later.
In 2007, Beverly moved to Norman, OK, to be closer to family and to play a larger part in her grandchildren's lives. She loved being a close participant of her grandchildren's lives, and she supported them in all school activities and sporting events. She was their biggest fan!
Beverly joined First Baptist Church Norman and made many wonderful friends through the Circle of Friends Sunday school class, later known as Women of JOY (Jesus-Others-Yourself). These wonderful ladies supported each other throughout all of life's ups and downs. Beverly also enjoyed volunteering at the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church Norman. God, family, community and friends were all so special and meaningful to her. Also, she never met a dog or a cat that she didn't love (and her granddogs loved her, too!). Beverly was a big Boomer Sooner sports fan and supported them faithfully.
In 2019, Beverly moved into the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Jerry Ogle, where she lived until January of 2023. She moved into Rivermont Gardens Assisted Living Center in early 2023, and stayed there until she passed away after a brief illness on November 7, 2023. She passed peacefully with her daughter Shelley by her side. She is now rejoicing in Heaven healthy and free of sadness, pain and worry. She will be missed greatly until we see her again.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Danny; her mother and father, Bert and Laverne Bodenstein; her mother-in-law, Hazel Bailey; brother, Ronald Bodenstein; nephews, Kevin Bodenstein and Ricky Bailey; niece, Christy Myers; and many wonderful caring brothers and sisters-in-law.
Beverly is survived by daughter, Shelley and husband Jerry, along with grandsons Army Staff Sergeant Jacob Ogle and wife Lydia, Michael David Denton, Ill (Trey), Ryan Ogle and wife Rachael, granddaughter Celia Ogle Dawson and great granddaughters, Grady Reece Ogle, Remington Ogle, Brooklyn Dawson and Kirstin Birdsall.
She is survived by stepdaughter, Danya Bailey Pickard and husband Danny, and grandchildren Dathon Pickard, Jordan Kyle Pickard and wife Sam, Kaylan Bell and husband Derek and their son Briley.
Beverly, too, is survived by sisters-in-law, Barbara Bodenstein, June Myers, and Wilda Bailey; and brother-in-law, Stanley Bailey and wife Betty. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved and cared for dearly.
Don’t cry because it’s over.
Smile because it happened.
