Billy “Gene” VanNatta, 85, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018.
Gene was born in Shenandoah, Iowa on February 7, 1933. After high school, Gene joined the Navy and was a proud member of the Seabees while serving in the Korean War. After the war Gene settled in Kansas City, KS.
Gene worked for Able Machinery Movers for 20+ years. He found the perfect post-retirement job driving a school bus for Dallas County Schools.  He loved spending time with students and teaching them magic tricks. He enjoyed cruising, dancing, flying airplanes, playing cards but most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Gene is survived by his wife of 21 years, Gloria (nee Gentry), sister, Carolyn, six children, John Roe and wife Diane, Terri Jenson, Pam Mason and husband Gene, Michael VanNatta and wife Alvina, Nannette Martin and husband J.R., and Tim Roe and wife Liz; 16 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandkids. Gene will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, James and Ellen, brother, Edwin, and sister Virginia Leach and his wife, Joan Ann (nee Burden) mother of Pamela and Michael, one grandchild, one great grandchild, and one great great grandchild.
Family will be receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2018 at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to a charity of your choice that supports our veterans.
