Bobby Joe Treat, age 89, of Norman, passed away May 8, 2021. He was born June 26, 1931, to the late Vada and Lonnie Treat, Sr. in the Ong Community of Seminole County.
Bob married Mary Alice Harris on December 10, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in Wewoka, Oklahoma. They were married for 63 years until her death in January of 2017.
He played basketball for the Wewoka Tigers during his teen years, graduated from Wewoka High School and attended East Central College. Bob was a Korean War veteran and served from 1950-1952 in Battery A, 171 Artillery, 45th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. There were three of his brothers in the service at the same time, Lonnie in the Army, and Jack and Bill in the Air Force. Bob worked for the Army National Guard for many years and retired from Tinker Air Force Base.
He was a member of Northeast Baptist Church and in earlier years, Bob taught nine year old boys in Sunday school. Bob had a passion for fishing, and he provided family and friends with a lot of good eating crappie over the years. He also enjoyed gardening, was a fierce badminton player, and enjoyed OU football getting to see many of the ‘greats’ during the 1950s.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sara and Cheryl Treat, both of Norman; and two brothers, Jack Treat of Shawnee and Bill Treat of Georgetown, Texas.
In addition to his wife, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Price of Holdenville; and two brothers, Lonnie Treat of Oklahoma City and Ronald Treat of Stillwater.
A family celebration will be held at a later date.
