Brian Eugene 'Küb' Karnes, age 47, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on August 8, 2021, in Oklahoma City, with his wife and parents at his side.
Brian was born in Denver, Colorado, to Myra Kay Eggleston Karnes and Clarence Eugene 'Gene' Karnes on September 24, 1973. He went to school in Higgins, Texas, and graduated in 1992. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Art, Master’s in Public Health, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. In his early years, Brian fought for the underdog and let his big heart be his guide as a patient advocate with his mother, Myra, in the Department of Mental Health. Brian worked diligently to do his best, whether driving dozers to build oil platforms, working in the shop or garden with his Aunt Lisa, or as the CEO of Norman’s own Health for Friends, which Brian merged with Variety Care to expand additional services to the underserved of Norman. Most recently, Brian opened a clinic, Karnes Family Health, with his wife Rebekah, where they worked side by side for the last three years. Brian loved his family. If you were fortunate enough for him to consider you family, you were the beneficiary of an incredible side of him that few were ever able to uncover. He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, knee-boarding, and reading, among many other activities. He always loved enjoying experiences and made life an incredible adventure for all who knew him. He was always searching for ways to enjoy life and broaden the minds of those around him. Brian loved a good debate, even if it was just to keep people thinking.
Brian is survived by his wife, Rebekah Ann Karnes (45); daughters, Peyton Aurora Karnes (19), and Lorelei Anya Stroh Karnes (12); step-daughters, Rachel Lassley (19), Reagan Lassley (15), and Riley Lassley (10) all of Norman, OK; sister, Rana Baker and her husband, Bradley Baker, of Las Vegas, NV; parents, Clarence Eugene 'Gene' Karnes, and Myra Kay Eggleston Karnes of Higgins, TX; grandmother, Iva Lee Karnes of Arnett, OK; granddaughter, Lilith Ivy Cruces of Norman, OK; niece, Trinity Marie Baker of Norman, OK; nephew, John Ross Baker of Las Vegas, NV, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martin Brooks Eggleston and Enola Kay Hughes Eggleston and grandfather, Carrel Eugene Karnes.
