Carolyn Sue Higbee, age 85, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019. She was born March 3, 1934 in Norman, OK to Thomas Franklin Harding and Eula Lee Stufflebean Harding.
Her father worked in the oil field, and moving around, they made their way to Pauls Valley where she attended school. They then moved to Noble where she graduated from High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, Ron Higbee on September 5, 1952. She then attended Draughn’s Business College in OKC. Before working in the OU Athletic Department under Bud Wilkinson, she worked at the Norman Transcript. She ended her full time career working at City Nation Bank and Trust under J.R. Symcox. After retirement, she went on to get her real estate license and worked at Homesteaders Real Estate.
Her hobbies included bowling, singing, dancing, gardening, and her first love, taking care of her grandchildren. She traveled the world competing with the singing group Sweet Adelines, where she was a member for 20 years. Her grandchildren and their friends knew her as Mamaw Sue. Her grandchildren always came first. She will be remembered for her energetic personality, her love of her husband, her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Franklin Harding; her mother, Eula Lee Harding; her sister, Mary Lou Edgar; and her grandson, Blake Edward Baldwin. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Lamar Higbee; her daughter, Rhonda Sue Brown and husband, Anthony; her son, Ronald Scott Higbee, daughter-in-law, Debra Higbee; and grandchildren, Tommy Sturdivant of Norman and Cori DeLay and husband, Dallas, and their children Devin and Dylan of Richardson, Texas.
Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 pm Thursday April 18, 2019 at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday April 19 in the Chapel of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be to Arbor House Reminisce Center (151 48th Ave SW, Norman, OK, 73072)
