Tribute

The family of Cathy Lane Siler announce with deep sadness, her unexpected passing from this earthly life on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the young age of 66.

Cathy was born in 1957, to parents, Virginia and Franklin.  Her childhood was spent growing up with her sisters and brother in Mustang.  She started her life as a Mom at a young age with the birth of her son, Chuck, whom she loved deeply.

In May of 1977, Cathy met the love of her life, David, at a softball game.  It was a Sunday.  They moved in together on Monday and were married just two years later.  They would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary and 46 years together this coming Monday, May 22nd.  Through all of the ups and downs of life, David was her best friend, and she was his.  During their first 13 years together, they lived a rather nomadic lifestyle, rarely settling in one place for more than a year at a time.  Their adventures took them and their beloved daughters, Crystal, Darra and Nikki, everywhere from city to country, bus to apartments, to Illinois and back, before settling for good in their castle in Noble in the summer of 1990.

Cathy was a loyal and extremely hard worker who did whatever it took to provide for her family even if it meant starting her day at 3:00 a.m. or working multiple jobs at once.  For over 20 years, she worked as an embroiderer in multiple shops in Norman.  She took great pride in her work and often made gifts for her loved ones, but you better believe she really hated working on hats!  It was through work that she met many of her dearest friends, people whom she loved dearly and considered family.

Those who knew Cathy knew that her most favorite role in life was that of Mom and Nana.  She loved each of her children, grandchildren, and her great granddaughter deeply, taking great pride in all of their accomplishments and in who they are as individuals.  They could always count on a card for their birthday and a huge hug every time they saw her.  They were all treasures in her life, and she kept every card, picture, gift and piece of art that they gave her over the years, regardless of the fact that storage space was limited.  She loved big, and her family and friends love her big in return.

Cathy was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Knuppenburg; father, Franklin Daniel; and step father, Glen Phillips.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend, David; children, Chuck (Leanda) Prather, Crystal Siler, Darra (Marcus) Richardson, Nikki (Josh) McCurley; grandchildren, Nicole, Alaina, Tyler, Hannah, Moriah, Alyson, Blake, Jayla, Ashton, Londyn, Parker, Braxton, Hadley; great granddaughter, Bella, and her siblings, Luann Darrow, Robin Harrison, Frankie (Brenda) Daniel, Kara (Gary) Hillman, Katrina Phillips.
