Charlene Elizabeth Bruehl Heitz, age 79, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023. She was born on December 1, 1943, at the family home in Norman, Oklahoma, one of eight children born to the late Albert and Ima Bruehl. Charlene attended St. Joseph Catholic School and later graduated from Norman High School.
On November 9, 1962, Charlene married Leroy Mize. They made their home in Norman where they raised four children. She worked for several years at Goodno’s Jewelry and Malones Food Service and enjoyed bowling, crocheting, gardening and bird watching. In addition to being a talented seamstress, Charlene was a wonderful cook. Her homemade chicken and noodles with homemade rolls were one of her family’s favorite meals. She cherished her grandchildren and loved being called ‘GiGi Maw’.
In November of 2006, Charlene married Glenn Heitz. The couple made their home in east Norman. They were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church where they were very involved and enjoyed serving others. They loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Heitz; one daughter, Valerie Raney; two sons, Barry and Marcus Mize; four brothers, James, Harold, Sherel and Donald Bruehl; and one sister, Anita Langdon.
She is survived by her son, Curtis Mize and his wife Tina; daughter-in-law, Teresa Mize; two sisters, Emma Spor and Carolyn Daniels; grandchildren, Angela, Kendra, Billy, Colby, Dalton, Brittany, Chris, Aaron, Erica and Joey; and several great grandchildren.
