Charles Ray Nelson

Charles Ray Nelson, born in Lake Creek, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Thursday, February 4, 2021.  He had just recently celebrated his 87th birthday.

Charles was a devoted family man and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with the love of his life, Charlotte Hogg Nelson.  They were married for 64 years and had been residents of Norman, Oklahoma since 1973.  One of his proudest accomplishments was that of being a father.  His children, Ray Bob Nelson of Houston, Texas, and Kathy Nelson Horn of Plano Texas, were lucky to call him Dad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Richard and Edna Bell “Phoebe” Nelson; his father and mother-in-law, William Virgil and Vena Hogg; his sister and brother-in-law, Carrie June and Curt Norman; and daughter-in-law, Tracey Lynn Nelson.  

Survived by wife, Charlotte Nelson; son, Ray Bob; daughter, Kathy; his sister, Virginia "Ginger" Power of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and brother, Steve Nelson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  His most cherished role was that of PaPa to Mallory and James Bartell, Riley and Leslie Nelson, Tanner and Leslie Horn, Hayley and Jon Pyle and Connor and Mackenzie Horn.  He is also survived by six great grandchildren, Harris and Blair Bartell, Gates and Howie Nelson and Griffin and Charlotte Pyle.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
