Chris Alan Marlow

Chris Alan Marlow, devoted husband, loving father, and avid adventurer passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 in his sleep.  

Chris was born February 1, 1955 in Norman, Oklahoma to Roy Francis “Bill” Marlow and Ruth Elwina (Allred) Marlow. He grew up in Tuttle, Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life and best friend, Gail when they were teenagers. He spent his adult years in Norman, Oklahoma with Gail for 44 wonderful years where they raised two children Sean and Taylor.

Chris loved adventure and trying new things with his sidekick, Gail. In his life he mastered many hobbies, including motorcycling, sailing, photography, welding, piloting planes, and building things around the house. He had an appetite for knowledge and experiences and even found adventure trying different foods and always encouraged his family to do the same.  His lessons continued on many hikes such as Pikes Peak and Quandary teaching them perseverance.

He adored traveling with his wife and family to places such as Colorado, Florida, and Mexico to name a few. He loved National Parks and always took the “scenic route” so he could see more of the sights. However, it was the ocean that captured his heart saying he always felt calm and happy when he was near it. Chris loved being a father to his children and was affectionately called “Cappy”, short for Captain, by his five grandchildren. Some of his greatest joy was found in being a grandfather and he loved sharing his adventurous spirit with them.

In his retirement he and Gail took full advantage of their new found freedom and continued their travels like carefree lovebirds.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brother in-law Tony Carr. Chris is survived by his wife Gail Marlow; his son Sean and wife Dana Marlow; his daughter Taylor and husband James Stewart; sister Ruth Ann Carr; his five grandchildren Noah, Grace, Ian, Abigail, and Eleanor; and many nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of his life will be held at Havenbrook Funeral Home.  Day and time are pending.
