Delores DeFreeze, age 89, of Norman, passed away April 19, 2022. She was born June 7, 1932, in Corsicana, Texas, to the late John and Itasca Collins. She was the sixth of eight children and is the last surviving sibling. Delores married Joe Nathan DeFreeze, and they were married for 60 years before his death in 2007. She loved cooking and caring for her family.
Delores is survived by her children: son, Joe Wilbert DeFreeze and wife Paula of Arlington, TX; daughter, Retta Mae Mackey and husband Arthur of Hobbs, NM; daughter, Lashell Perry and husband William of Norman, OK; son, Joseph DeFreeze of Fort Worth, TX; son, Harold DeFreeze of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Linda Marie Anderson and husband Leonard of Norman, OK; 42 grandchildren; 94 great grandchildren; and 29 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, parents and siblings, Delores was preceded in death by two sons, William Earl DeFreeze and Rodrick Darrell DeFreeze; one granddaughter; and one great grandson.
The family wishes to express special thanks for the love and kindness shown to Delores by her long-time caregivers, Taquilla Cook, Jerry Davis, Tiffany Calaway, Tamra Jean-Pierre and Olivia Washington, all of whom were very dear to her.
