December 25th, 1942 – February 26th, 2019
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Diana Justine Mayberry, peacefully passed away surrounded by family Tuesday, February 26th, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 76.
She is survived by her children, Landa Hawkins and her husband, Eric Hawkins, of Norman, OK; Lee Olsen and her husband, Rob Olsen of Carlisle, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Mayberry, of Norman, OK; six grandchildren, Melinda Russell, Caroline Bowman, Linsey Muller, Mike Mayberry, Allison Mayberry, and Lainey Olsen; five great-grandchildren, Emelyn Russell, Graham Russell, Grace Muller, Jaxon Muller, and Lukas Muller, and dear grandson-in-laws, beloved extended family and treasured friends.
Diana is preceded in death by her husband, Byron L. Mayberry; her parents, Clement W. and Billie L. Smith; and son, Jeff J. Mayberry.
Diana Justine Mayberry was born on December 25th, 1942 in Madill, Oklahoma to Clement William and Billie Lucille Smith. Diana grew up in Tishomingo, Oklahoma where she made life-long friends. She attended Murray State College and received an associate’s degree in Library Science. She met her husband, Lanny while attending Falls Creek Baptist Church Camp when he and some friends jumped the fence. They married on September 1st, 1961 in Tishomingo and had three children while Lanny served his country in the Air Force. Upon leaving the service, the family established their home in Norman. Diana served her family as a homemaker and loved spending her time with her family, dogs, friends, and neighbors. Diana also enjoyed shopping, attending church, clogging, OU football, and traveling to Red River, NM. She will be remembered for her unyielding faith, amazing sense of style, quick wit, and fierce, self-less love for her family and others. She served the country she loved with warm-hearted, witty debates.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 1st, 2019 at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman with interment following at I.O.O.F Cemetery in Norman.
