Eleanor “Evanell” McGee of Noble, OK left this life to live with her Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the age of 92 with her daughter at her side.
Evanell was born on October 6, 1930, in Konawa, OK to Jarrett and Elsie Gentry. She grew up in a large farming family in south central OK. Evanell attended High School at Woodland near Davis, OK. On July 19, 1949, Evanell married Delbert McGee. They began the first 10 years of their marriage in Texas, then returned to OK to live the remainder of their lives. Delbert and Evanell celebrated 70 years of marriage together. They had one daughter, Stephanie.
Evanell’s heart was reflected in her role as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She was a woman of many talents. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, apt at perfecting any craft she tried, and in later life enjoyed oil painting and drawing.
Evanell was a member of the Baptist church in both Noble and Pauls Valley, OK while living in those communities. She loved and spent time with all her close and extended family members throughout her life. Evanell’s greatest life adventure was to travel alone to Germany for a visit with her brother. Evanell and Delbert enjoyed many vacations but loved being in their home most.
Evanell is survived by daughter: Stephanie Mannin and husband Owen of Norman; granddaughter: Sally Anne Diaz and husband Luis of Oklahoma City and their children, Isaac, Elias, and Angelina; granddaughter: Kathryn “Katie” Brown and husband Ken of Apex, NC and their Children Reece, Gage, and Davis; grandson: Tim Mannin and wife Christie of Oklahoma City and their children Emily, Carys, Addi, and Greyson; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her lifetime best friend, Margaret Leslie.
Evanell was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert McGee, Parents Jarrett and Elsie Gentry; brothers: Dillard, D. L., Vernon, and Berthal and sisters: Ivah, Annie, and Cecila.
Evanell will be laid to rest next to Delbert in Katie Cemetery, Katie, OK.
