Fred V Brock , age 87, of Norman OK passed away October 21.
Fred was born in Chillicothe, Ohio in 1932. After graduating from high school, Fred earned a degree in Education from Ohio State University and then served a tour in the Navy. With his military service complete, Fred went on to earn two master’s degrees from the University of Michigan, one in meteorology and one in instrumentation engineering. While pursuing these degrees, Fred also began working for the University of Michigan and after about twelve years in Ann Arbor, decided to earn a doctorate in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. Upon graduation, he accepted a position with the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder Colorado and remained there for about twelve years before returning to the University of Oklahoma to teach meteorology. He retired from the University of Oklahoma’s School of Meteorology in 1997. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Thelma; two sisters Anne and Betty; two sons, Frederick and William.
