Frederick Powell Goodwin Jr, age 67, of Norman passed away Wednesday August 14, 2019. He was born February 5th 1952 in Norman Oklahoma to Frederick Powell Goodwin Sr. and Henrietta Caroline (Colbert) Goodwin.
He was a graduate of the Norman High School class of 1970. In 1974 he married Donna Marie (Harmon) Goodwin who he remained married to for 45 years until his passing. He was an employee of the University of Oklahoma for 35 years and Corix Utilities for 10 years. Throughout his life he donated his time, energy and resources to the betterment of those around him. As an Eagle Scout he raised 2 children who were also both Eagle Scouts and mentored numerous other young men through the process. He was a patrol dad for the Eagle Patrol in troop 777 out of Norman and later served as the Pack leader for Pack 777. He served on Eagle Board for the sooner district of scouting for 16 years and helped countless young men reach the rank of Eagle. He brought a kind heart and a selfless approach to every situation.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Henrietta Goodwin. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his brother, John Colbert Goodwin; his two sons, Frederick Powell Goodwin III and Johnathan David Goodwin; his two daughters-in-law, Misty (Morgan) Goodwin and Julie (Bodemann) Goodwin; his grandchildren, Jackson Powell Goodwin, Henry Charles Goodwin, Thomas Oliver Goodwin, Rhyan Sydney Pogue, Skylar Morgan Pogue, Micah Caroline Goodwin and Frederick Powell Goodwin IV; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many others in his extended scouting family.
Funeral Services will Begin at 10:00 AM Saturday August 24th, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Nehrenz, 603 Classen Blvd, Norman, OK 73071. In Lieu of flowers, donations to support low income scout families may be made to the Boy Scouts - Last Frontier Council in memoriam Fred Goodwin and mailed to Last Frontier Council at 3031 NW 64th Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
