Genece Jo 'Gigi' Wicks

September 3, 1955 ~ March 14, 2023 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Tribute

Genece Jo Wicks, 67, loving mother, adoring wife and devoted Gigi went to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 14, 2023.  Genece was born on September 3, 1955, in Oklahoma City to Gene and Frankie Bynum.  She grew up in Norman where she graduated from Norman High School in 1973.  She attended the University of Oklahoma where she met the love of her life, George Wicks, who she would often love to tell the story of their meeting.  They married May 8, 1976, and would spend the next 46 years building the most beautiful life together.

Genece started attending the University Christian Church when she was 14 and that is where she and George became very dedicated members and built a strong church family that still continues today.  Genece had a rock solid faith that she passed onto her girls, and it was evident to all who knew her. Her love for life was undeniable.

Genece was so talented and a true entrepreneur.  Her business “Creative Temptations,” selling shirts and jewelry was very successful.  Although she had a career at Midwest City Women’s Renaissance Center, her true passion and talent was anything where she could be creative.

Her greatest joy in life was undoubtedly her three daughters whom she was so proud of.  Life became even sweeter when she became a Gigi.  The ultimate Gigi.  Upon retirement, she and George spent most of their days caring for and spoiling their grandchildren.  Some of her favorite things to do with her grandchildren were crafting and taking them to the waterpark.

Genece was the best card maker.  She always made sure to send out her “Happy Mail.”  Her cards never failed to come at a time when needed the most.  Her happy place was always around a body of water.  Whether that be the pool, the lake or the beach.  She was tan year-round, and you could always find her around the pool lathered in baby oil.  Genece also loved her Asbury Ct. family and enjoyed many nights visiting with her neighbors on their front porch.

One of Genece’s favorite traditions was her annual Easter Bynum family reunion at Robbers Cave State Park.  She loved getting together with all her cousins and visiting by the campfire while have an “Eatin Party.”

Genece was preceded in death by her father, Gene Bynum, and her mother, Frankie Bynum.

She is survived by her husband, George; her three daughters, Stacie Weichbrodt and husband Jobe Weichbrodt, Kelcie Perkins and husband Ryan Perkins, Libbie Rodriguez and husband Diego Rodriguez; her sister Donna “Susie” Bensmiller; and her nephews, Brett Bensmiller, Brian Bensmiller and wife Amy Bensmiller. She is most importantly survived by her beloved grandchildren, Cash Weichbrodt, Hartlie Jo Weichbrodt, Theodore Rodriguez, August Rodriguez, Georgia Perkins, Zoey Bensmiller and Shane Bensmiller.  Along with many more friends and family that loved Genece.
