George Rollow

October 27, 1952 ~ February 24, 2018 (age 65) 65 Years Old
George Hursel Rollow, 65, of Norman passed away Saturday February 24th with family and friends at his side. He was born October 27th, 1952 in Wynnewood, OK to James K. and Jean Rollow. He married the love of his life, Leslie Smith on April 30th 1972. They were married for 45 years.
George graduated from Wynnewood High School in 1970 where he played football, competed in track and field and developed his lifelong love for music. He was rarely seen without his guitar from that point forward. He joined the Air Force in 1972 where he was trained in electronics, which he carried over into his over 40 years of government service with the FAA.
He and Leslie moved to Norman after he left the Air Force, where they raised their two children and became active members of their church. George spent many years writing and playing music for his family, friends and church, and could always be found strumming his guitar or telling a joke. He adored his grandchildren and always went out of his way to take care of his family and friends.
George was a true servant of God who led the music services at First Assembly of God Church in Norman for many years. He also spent a lot of time playing guitar for OU and UCO Chi Alpha Campus Ministries and was a loving mentor to the college kids that attended. His love and devotion to his family, church and friends will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His songs will forever echo in our hearts.
George was preceded in death by his parents James and Jean Rollow. He is survived by his wife, Leslie of the home; son David and former spouse Sherri Rollow of Norman and their children Jonathon, James, Joshua and Sarah; daughter Anne and husband Jeff Curtin of Olathe, KS and their children Kaitlyn and Christian; “adopted” granddaughter Lori Roberts of McAlester, OK; brothers Jim Rollow and wife Nancy of Edmond, OK and Rick Rollow and wife Cheryl of Evansville, IN; Aunt Lela Sarah Watson of Wynnewood, OK. George will also be forever remembered by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and other extended family.
