Dale Nichols, age 81, of Norman Oklahoma passed away November 6 2023.
He was born on a sunny afternoon on May 20th, 1942 in Duncan Oklahoma to Gordon Earl Nichols and Vera Cleta Nichols (Gray).
Dale attended Duncan Public Schools and later went on to earn a B.B.A. degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1970. Dale met Sylvia in the quad at OU and they married on August 26, 1962. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 - 1970 and left with an honorable discharge as a 1st Lieutenant after loyally serving in Kansas as the Launch Platoon Leader of a Nike Hercules nuclear missile battery.
His creative marketing career supported his loving family through the years, and he built an international reputation in the hotel Industry making friends all around the world. He was frequently quoted in the press and flew on the Concord.
He is remembered for his kindness, spot on sage advice and willingness to help anyone who was interested in helping themselves. His humble patience, great sense of humor, and dedication to his family will be missed. He will be remembered as a genuine renaissance individual with mechanically minded skills in engineering, building and fabrication, graphic design, fine arts, writing and woodworking. His mentorship and communication skills were greatly appreciated by family and friends. He brought together communities including his Duncan High School Alum, Minolta group and Family Genealogy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Earl and Vera Nichols, his 2 siblings Donald and Jimmy Nichols.
Dale is survived by his wife, Sylvia Nichols, and his children: Todd, Tambra, and Holly and grandchildren: Quinn and Cole Rhodes & Cooper, Olive and Penny Payne.
In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made in memory of Dale to the Dale K. Graham Veterans Foundation, Norman Oklahoma.
