Gordon Welcher died on December 1, 2017. He was the son of the late Lillian Lucille Gordon Welcher and Lt. Colonel Alexander Borah Welcher. Gordon lived in Norman for his entire life. He attended Norman High School and the University of Oklahoma, where he met his wife, Florene Elaine Nadler. In his mid-50’s Gordon attended and obtained a master’s degree in political science from The University of Central Oklahoma.  Gordon was passionate about his children’s and grandchildren's education, reading about American history, and loved to discuss politics, KU basketball and his favorite topic of all, OU football. Boomer Sooner! Besides his wife Florene, Gordon is survived by his sister Gayle Gordon Welcher, daughters Julie (Marc) Spizman, Nancy Welcher and Rachel Welcher, his son Sam (Wendy) Welcher and five grandchildren: Sophie Spizman, Adam Spizman, Abigail Linn, Jacob Welcher and Zac Welcher. Dear cousin and friend to many. A remembrance of Gordon’s life will be held at Havenbrook Funeral Home, Tuesday December 5th from 11-2. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
