James Thomas Driskell, age 89, of Norman, passed away February 24, 2021.  He was born January 15, 1932, in Wallville, Oklahoma, to the late James and Maude Driskell.  He married the love of his life, Norma Mae Tippin, on November 4, 1955, in Holdenville.

 

James graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1955.  He was a member of the ROTC while attending college and was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the finance corporation of the Army.  He was stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana, after which he was transferred to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  James completed his military service in Heidelberg, Germany, before returning to Norman in January 1962.  James was employed at Gilt Edge Farms Dairy, now Hiland Dairy, for 50 years.

 

James was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and loved to study God’s word.  He enjoyed nature walks, traveling, and spending time with family.  James was an avid Sooner fan since 1949.

 

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Christy Dianne Driskell; and sisters, Vera White and June Driskell.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma; granddaughter, Jamie Jenks; brother, Donald Driskell and his wife Bennie; and sisters, Betty Spivey, Pat Price and Glenna Terrell.
