James Woodrow McGowen

James Woodrow McGowen, age 81, of Norman passed away Friday, July 24, 2020.  He was born October 22, 1938, in Monroe, LA, son of the late Marcus and Lizzie McGowen.  James retired as a Tech Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service and later retired as an engineer from the Severe Storms Lab.  James enjoyed spending time at their home on the lake where he could boat and fish.  He was also an avid photographer and enjoyed model trains.  Most of all, James loved making his beloved wife and family happy.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Doreen McGowen; and granddaughter, Susan.

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Anderson and husband Mark, Trudy Spradlin and husband Rick; one son, David McGowen and wife Lisa; eight grandchildren, Genevieve, Catherine, Jennifer, Keith, Robert, Rebecca, Alyssa and Kurtis; fourteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond, Martin and James; and three sisters, Mary, Liz and Faye.
