James Arthur Urice, age 90, of Norman, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021. He was born February 11, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Raised in Midland, Texas, James graduated with honors, having skipped two grades, from Midland High School. He entered the University of Oklahoma at age 16, and graduated with a degree in Geology at age 19. At OU, James met and married Ramona Hamilton. He started his career in the oil and gas business working with his father’s drilling company, Urice Drilling Company, and he continued his career throughout Texas and Oklahoma. At age 90, James was appointed as an elder in the Choctaw Nation.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ramona Hamilton Urice; two sons, Dr. Thomas Duke Urice and his wife Meredith, and Daniel Rex Urice, J.D.; and five granddaughters, Jenny, Julie, Katie, Lily and Alexandra.
