James L. 'Jim' Verville

James L. ‘Jim’ Verville, age 77, of Norman, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020.  He was born November 3, 1942, in Gooding, Idaho, to the late James Arthur and Maxine Allen Verville.  Jim was president of the student council in high school and lettered in four sports.  He obtained his undergraduate and master’s degree from OU, graduating with honors.  Jim was also a veteran of the Army National Guard.    He and his wife loved to travel and visited 27 countries.  He also enjoyed golf, camping in the mountains of Utah, visiting the ocean, going sailing, was an avid Sooner fan, and especially loved teaching others about the gospel.

Jim was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Bishop and in numerous other roles.  He loved his Heavenly Father, his family and his country.  A loving husband, father, grandpa and Pop Pop, he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, JoAnne Verville; three daughters, Lisa Kelly and husband Michael, Lori Verville and Missy Krueger and husband Dave; and grandchildren, Zachary James Chatterley, Joshua Joseph Chatterley, Arica Melissa Chatterley, Jack Thomas Bushnell, James Richard Sidney Bushnell, Summer Colleen Steadman, Craig Steadman, Conner Steadman, Dalton Krueger, Emily Turman, Brooke Krueger, Carson Krueger, Brody Krueger and Barrett Krueger.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
