Jeannie Osborn, 95, of Norman went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in Edmond, OK. She was born October 31, 1923 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Samuel H. Kneese and Ada Belle Collins Kneese.
Jeannie grew up in Oklahoma and during World War II served in a “Rosie the Riveter” capacity on aircraft maintenance at McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa. She then went to nursing school, becoming highly educated with not only a Bachelor’s Degree, but three Master’s Degrees from the University of Oklahoma and several graduate and National certifications. Moreover, she returned to college in her later years to study Spanish. She worked as a Registered Nurse, retiring when she was in her late eighty’s.
A faithful and devout Christian and prayer warrior, she was a very active Parishioner of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she was involved in numerous ministries. She also traveled to Southeast Asia proclaiming the Gospel on a mission trip.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, a son, and son-in-law. Jeannie is survived by her daughter, Philis Mason, her son, Steve Long, four grandchildren, W. Scott Mason, IV, Sarah E. Mason, Trevor Long and wife Virginia, and Meghan Freeman and husband David, and three great-grandchildren, Stephen Zebediah Long, Zoe’ Sophia Long and Sully Thomas Freeman.
The family wishes to thank the loving and caring staff of Stonecreek Memory Care in Edmond, Physicians Choice Hospice and Focus on Function for the exceptional care they provided for Jeannie.
Visitation for Jeannie will be from 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Chapel, located at 421 East Acres St., Norman, officiated by Rev. Joseph Irwin and Rev. Alphonse Gollappalli, with interment following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Jeannie to Blessed Stanley Rother Hispanic Institute, through St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Norman, OK 73071.
