Jerrie S. Anderson

January 18, 1934 ~ July 5, 2022 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Jerrie Snow Anderson, along with her twin sister Jackie, was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, on January 18, 1934 to Jo Sickles Snow and Henry Arthur Snow.  She died peacefully on July 5, 2022 with her family at her side.

Jerrie and Jackie attended first through 12th grades in Sulphur Springs, Texas.  In high school Jerrie was in the marching band, student council, was a member of the National Honor Society and was FFA Sweetheart.  With her first husband Wayne Buchanan, she had four wonderful children all of whom survive her today.

In 1986, Jerrie married James K. Anderson in Maui, Hawaii.  They lived in Dallas for 10 years before purchasing the Chautauqua home in Norman.  Located in the heart of the OU campus, the garden home is one of Norman’s most recognizable.  It gave Jerrie great pleasure when students walking by would stop to talk about how beautiful her flowers were.

Jerrie was a faithful member and worshipper at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Soon after moving to Norman, she became a member of The Assistance League.

Jerrie and Jim traveled extensively until ill health kept Jim’s travel at a minimum.  Jim died in 2016.

Jerrie is survived by her children Allen Buchanan of Canton, Texas; Rebecca (Brian) Archey of Norman; Michael (Dawn) Buchanan of Norman; Don (Debbie) Buchanan of Bells, Texas; Judith (Ed) Guetens of Kingwood, Texas; James R. (Mary) Anderson of Plano, Texas; Melanie K. Anderson of Morrison, Colorado.

Also surviving are grandchildren Jamie (Ross) Roye; Caitlin (Kasey) Blair; Michael Walker Buchanan; Catheryne Buchanan; Doug Wick; Jim Anderson Wick; Melanie Wick Daugherty; Carolyn Anderson Newham; James H. Anderson; Travis Roberts; Samantha Richards, and Drew Sanders.  Also surviving are 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jerrie’s twin sister and best friend, Jackie Snow Shrode of Ft. Worth, Texas, also survives.  Together Jerrie and Jackie shared their wonderful life and so many happy times.

Preceding Jerrie in death are her husband James K. Anderson; parents Jo and H. Arthur Snow; sisters Ava Snow Walters; Florence Snow Anderson; Mary Jo Snow Bruner; Rose Snow Russell; and brother in law Jack B. Shrode.

Pallbearers are her grandsons: Michael Walker Buchanan, Doug Wick, Jim Anderson Wick, James H. Anderson, Denton Newham, Cameron Daugherty, Ross Roye, and Kasey Blair.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, OKC, OK; or the Assistance League of Norman.
