Jesse Hofmann, 93 of Norman, OK died on Friday, July 24, 2020. He grew up in Lincoln, Plattsmouth, and Omaha Nebraska. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Navy from 1945 to 1948. He married Arlene, his high school sweetheart in 1948 and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1950. He taught Junior High School in Wichita, KS for several years. In 1956, he joined the RAND Corporation to pursue a career in computers. As a pioneer in the computer field, he moved frequently all over the country, living in nine states. He mostly worked at Air Force Bases around the country spending his last 18 years at Tinker AFB prior to retirement in 1995.
Jesse loved spending time with family and friends, including lifelong “Navy Gang” friends. In later years, he enjoyed the company of Evelyn Thompson and Dan Meyer. He had a fantastic memory with vivid recollection of places he visited and things he had done. He loved telling stories and jokes.
Jesse is survived by his children, Deborah Hofmann Tims of Norman, OK and J. Philip (Marcie) Hofmann III of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Joel (Jami) Tims of Norman, OK, Andy (May) Tims of Portland, OR, Nicole (Jace) Knutson of Leawood, KS, and Jessica Hofmann of Overland Park, KS; brother Roger (Beulah) Hofmann of Brazil, IN; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, his parents, and sister.
