Jim R. Hicks

Jim R. Hicks, age 85, of Norman, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.  He was born on September 14, 1938, to James William Hicks and Anna Elva Wright Hicks in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1957.  Jim started dating the love of his life, Bettye Suter, his junior year of high school.  They were married January 30, 1960, and they moved to Norman, Oklahoma, in 1965, where they raised their two children, Robyn and Stacy.

Jim started his career with TWA on November 7,1966.  His career allowed him to "travel the world many times over."  He retired from the airlines after 35 years.  Jim's favorite place to travel to was Portanfino, Italy.  "It's like living in a postcard".  Jim enjoyed telling stories about his world travels and his childhood growing up with his cousins.  His hobbies included traveling, fishing, motorcycling, water skiing, scuba diving, photography, and he loved spending time with his family.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Elizabeth Hicks; his brother, Bill Hicks; and his great granddaughter, Tinley Grigg.  He is survived by wife, Bettye Hicks of the home; his daughter, Robyn McGetrick of Norman; his son, Stacy Hicks and wife Jami of Norman; six grandchildren; and fourteen14 great grandchildren.
