Jimmy Dale Shaw

Jimmy Dale Shaw, age 74, of Norman, passed away September 17, 2021. He was born May 8, 1947, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late G.C. and  Clara Jean Shaw of Norman.  Jim  married the love of his life, Linda Margaret Drummer of Severn, Maryland on March 28, 1970.

Jim was a 1965 Norman High School graduate and attended the University of Oklahoma for a short time before joining the Army NSA. He was a Spec 5.C.  in the 101st Airborne Division serving 2 terms in Vietnam, and then stationed at Ft. Meade, Maryland. 

He returned to Norman with his wife, Linda and they raised one daughter, Bridget (deceased). He was a  retired Assistant Manager from Homeland for 45 years. Jim enjoyed spending time with his lifelong friends, and especially watching Oklahoma Sooners in all sports. He  was an avid OU Sooner fan for his entire life.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Bridget Lynn Shaw. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda; two brothers, Danny Shaw and wife Becky of Norman; Darrell Shaw of Olalla, WA and two sisters, Donna Darnold and husband, Mike of Edmond, OK; Kerry Moffett and husband, Steve of Bucyrus, Kansas; one aunt, Judy Grumbles and husband Royce of Great Mills, MD; 9 nieces and nephews; and 16 great nieces and nephews. There is also a very special “adopted brother” to our family since he was in 4th grade. He practically lived at our house more than his own, Glen “Butch” Veal. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. Interment will be at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
