Joan Ottis

Joan Dennehy Ottis, age 95, of Norman, died Tuesday December 15th, 2020. She was born on November 28, 1925 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to John and Alice Dennehy. She lived in Henrietta the first ten years of her life and then moved with her family to Oklahoma City in 1935. She graduated from John Carroll High School in 1942 and attended St. Mary College in Leavenworth, Kansas.

She married Dr. Paul J. Ottis May 27, 1947. They moved to Okarche, Oklahoma where he started his medical practice and they raised their family. After his death in 1979, she moved to Oklahoma City where she lived until moving to Norman, Oklahoma in 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings Patricia Neaves, John Dennehy III, Jim Dennehy and grandson Brandon.

She is survived by two sons, Patrick (Carolyn) of Alameda, California, and Dan (Bobbi) of Norman, Oklahoma, grandsons Matthew (Lauren), Zac (Jurhee) and Conner, great grandchildren Jalin and Christopher. She is also survived by siblings Mary Packham and Pete Dennehy.

She was the matriarch of our family and affectionately known as 'Da' once grandchildren arrived. Her long life was filled with love, care, and generosity. She was known for making beautiful quilts, china painting, and her ability to grow beautiful flowers.
