John Harold Vogel, DVM, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away suddenly on March 10th, 2023, at the age of 90. He was born July 10, 1932, in Parsons, Kansas. While he visited many places in his life, his heart was always there.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine; his father, Leo; his sisters, Mary and Rita; and his brother, Bill. He is survived by his wife Martha; son, Steve and his wife Melissa; son, Scott; and grandchildren, Bailey, Maggie, Riley, Teal, and Indigo.
John was raised and worked on the family farm in Parsons until called into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his service, he attended the school of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University. As a proud alumni, he always enjoyed it when his Wildcats came out on top. For his career, John primarily worked for the United States Department of Agriculture until his retirement. He enjoyed numerous hobbies including golf, working on cars, and tackling household projects most people would shy away from.
John loved people and never met a stranger. He would gladly lend a hand whenever needed. He maintained a strong belief in God and always looked for the good in people.
