Joseph Gabriel Tolefree, age 16, of Norman, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019. He was born in Norman on October 10, 2003. Joseph was an honor roll student at Norman North High School and excelled at math and science. He was very observant, a deep thinker and enjoyed meditation. Nicknamed “King Jo”, "Joseph Awesome" and "Left-Handed Jo" he had a witty nature about him, a great personality and an attractive smile. A young man of many talents, Joseph was athletic; skilled and excelled in Taekwondo achieving multiple awards and the rank of black belt candidate; liked to draw and was a good dancer; and great with young kids. He also loved to cook, being outdoors, playing ping-pong and video games and was a fan of Anime. Joseph was a gift and great blessing to his family and friends. A very kind, compassionate, adventurous, fun-loving, respectful, wise and gentle soul, he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his mother, Amanda Isom; father, Ted Tolefree; brother, Jeremiah Tolefree; maternal grandparents, Mary M. Isom and Frank L. Isom (Pamela K Isom); paternal grandparents, Edward and Martha Tolefree; aunts, Donna McDonnell (Dextor McDonnell) and Ivory Isom-Bickham (Byron Bickham); uncles, Frank L. Isom, Laron Tolefree and Jamal Tolefree; and numerous great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Bridgett Tolefree.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020, at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. A Celebration of Joseph’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman.
