Joyce Dale Bendrick

Joyce (Joy) Bendrick, 63, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.  Born to Arnold Dale and Betty Joyce McCalister, she grew up in Evansville, Indiana, where she attended Fairlawn Elementary, Bosse High School, and the University of Evansville, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education.  Following college, Joy served almost 2 years in Senegal as a Journeyman missionary through the Foreign Mission Board.  Joy completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from the University of Oklahoma in 1995 and worked at Moore-Norman Technology Center for 28 years where she advanced from secretary to Data Management Coordinator.  A special thank you to those who assisted her, encouraged her and helped her accomplish more than she had dreamed in her professional career. 

Joy worshipped at Wildwood Community Church, where she faithfully served in the nursery for nearly 30 years.  In her spare time, Joyce was an avid cross-stitcher, card maker and stamper and leaves behind many dear friends with whom she spent many hours.  She also loved people and was very appreciative of these relationships, both personal and professional throughout her life time.  But most of all she loved her Savior and wishes, as He does, that your thoughts will “be stayed on Him, the author and finisher of your faith”.  To Him be the glory and honor forever and ever.  Amen.

Joyce is preceded in death by her father, Arnold McCalister.  She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Michael Bendrick, mother Betty McCalister, sister Cinda Stonecipher, brothers Timothy McCalister (Linda) and Stephen McCalister (Gina), nephews Tobin Perry, Kyle McCalister, Kyle McCalister, Kristopher McCalister, and Jacob McCalister, niece Kelli White, along with several great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm on August 3, 2018 at Wildwood Community Church, 1501 24th Ave NE, Norman, OK 73071.  In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family has asked that memorials be made to Wildwood Community Church - Joy’s Nursery Fund.
