Karen A Lenington

October 31, 1944 ~ February 9, 2024 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Karen Ann Lenington, born on Ocotber 31, 1944, to Winifred Onus Ward and Georgia Alberta Ward, gracefully entered eternal rest on February 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and boundless generosity.

As one of eight children, Karen’s life was woven with the threads of family, unity, kindness, and shared moments of joy. Her parents, Winifred and Georgia, instilled in her the values of compassion, strength, and the importance of nurturing close relationships.

Karen found solace and balance in the art of tai chi, embracing its graceful movements as a reflection of her serene and centered approach to life.

An avid gardener, Karen’s green thumb painted her surroundings with the vibrant hues of life. Among her favorite flowers were the delicate white blooms, symbols of purity and elegance that mirrored her own grace. Her garden, a testament to her passion and dedication, stood as a living legacy to the beauty she cultivated.

Christmas was a special time for Karen, as she delighted in spoiling her two children with love and gifts. Her generosity knew no bounds, and the joy of giving brought her immense happiness. Her collection of Christmas and Halloween ornaments reflected her festive spirit and the warmth she infused into the holiday seasons.

Karen face life’s challenges with courage and resilience, triumphing over breast cancer not once, but twice. Her strength and determination became a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her.

A devoted fan of the University of Oklahoma, Karen’s enthusiasm for sports was boundless. Whether it was track, softball, basketball, or the beloved OU Football, she rarely missed an athletic even, cheering passionately for her teams. As the supportive wife of track coach, Pat Lenington, Karen attended many of her husband’s events and proudly stood by his side during his student’s track and field competitions.

In the hearts of those who were touched by her grace and generosity, Karen Ann Lenington will be remembered as a loving mother, a resilient spirit, and  a beacon of unwavering support. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she showered upon those fortunate enough to know her.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Pat Lenington; her two children, Melissa Lyn Lenington and Patrick Keith Lenington; and siblings, William Ward, Colonel Ward, and Martha Ward Hall.

May Karen find eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty of her favorite white blooms, in a place where her spirit continues to bloom, much like the flowers she so lovingly tended in her cherished garden.
