Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Harris

Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Harris passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021, at her home in Norman, OK.  She was born in Tulsa, OK, on November 19, 1948, to Kenneth and Joann Harris of Henryetta, OK.

Growing up, Kathy was part of a military family and lived in many different states and throughout Europe.  One of her fondest memories was attending her high school prom aboard a dinner/dance cruise on the Seine River in Paris.  She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a teaching degree and taught third grade in Putnam City and Edmond schools for over 30 years.  She was a mentor to many of her students and especially enjoyed having the opportunity to teach the children of former students.  After retirement, she continued mentoring the next generation of educators by serving as a liaison to OU education undergraduates and by monitoring student teachers in live classroom settings.

Kathy had a lifelong love for gardening which led her to become a Master Gardener.  She was always proud of her plants and flowers and replanted favorites in her different homes over the years, keeping some for generations.

Kathy is survived by her son, Matt Bush and wife Angie of Allen, TX; son, Ryan Harris and wife Tayla of Edmond, OK; son, Kelly Harris of Moore, OK; brother, Michael Harris and wife BJ of Ponte Vedra, FL; six grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Sophie.  She loved her sons and her grandchildren “to the moon and back”.

As her battle with cancer overcame her, she received much support from her family, friends and neighbors.  The family will always be indebted to her neighbors who stepped up with love and support allowing her to stay in her home to the end.  Her laugh and infectious smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
