Kelly S. Nix

Kelly Nix, age 62, of Norman, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.  He was born September 4, 1961, on Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Harold and Gail Nix.  Kelly grew up in Shawnee, Oklahoma, was an Eagle Scout and played the drums in high school.  His family traveled extensively during his childhood.  Kelly and his sister, Kim, made vacation books of their adventures which sparked Kelly’s life-long love of research and learning.

Kelly obtained Associate and Bachelor degrees in political science and prelaw, then he changed course going on to graduate with Masters in Business Administration and Management Information Systems from the University of Oklahoma.  He worked in Information Technology with Chesapeake Energy, Norman Regional, and retired from OU Medical Center.

Kelly was an avid OU Sooner fan and was a long-time football season ticket holder.  He also enjoyed studying family genealogy.  His favorite times were those spent with his family, especially his daughter, Madison.  They enjoyed fishing, and watching football and baseball.  A loving son, husband, father and brother, he will be deeply missed.

Kelly is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sherri Nix; daughter, Madison Nix; parents, Harold and Gail Nix; sister, Kim Baker; and his feline companion, Rudy.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Pearl Nix, and Robert and Mary Bayless.
