Laura Geraldine Kliewer

April 11, 1945 ~ June 20, 2018 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Tribute

Laura Geraldine Kliewer, 73, of Norman, OK passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, June 20, 2018. She was born April 11, 1945 in Corpus Christi, TX to Earl Dean Cummins and Laura Geraldine (Massey) Cummins.
She was the baby of four with three older brothers. She quickly grew up, when she married the love of her life for 58 years, at the young age of 14. At age 15, she had her first baby girl and was on her way to having four beautiful daughters and one handsome son; who were the light of her eyes. She couldn’t have been more proud of her family. When the grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit, there wasn’t a happier woman on earth.
Other passions in her life were playing tennis, singing, reading and watching movies. After her children were grown and the nest became empty, she found an alternative way to bringing joy into children’s lives and hearts by substitute teaching at many of the local grade schools. She loved to tell stories to the children and watch them smile.
Laura was the ultimate example of a true Christian woman. She was more than just involved in the church activities. She was the Elder’s wife that was the first to show up to set up, and the last to stay until everything was put up.
If you met her on the street, you’d think she had just stepped out of a fancy New York department store, but she wasn’t shy to tell you that her whole outfit cost $5.00. There will never be a better thrift shopper. She had a heart that never stopped sharing, so for her to be thrifty meant that she had more to give to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Geraldine Cummins, two brothers, Butch and Ronnie.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jerald Kliewer of Norman, one brother and sister-in-law Bob and Chris Cummins of Cushing, OK, son J.D. Kliewer and wife Kelli of Edmond, OK, daughter Jeanette Cassel and husband James of Edmond, OK, daughter Lisa Clark and husband Mark of Dallas, TX, daughter Darline Kellers and husband Fred of Greeley, CO, daughter Heather Kliewer Washburn of Bethel, OK, Stepdaughter Kelly Foard Moffeit of Holdenville, OK, eight grandchildren namely Jasmine, Nathan, Nicole, Lauren, Tanner, Alli, Jennifer and Garret, seven great grandchildren namely Alexis, De’Shaun, Natalie, Lily, Ryder, Brielle, and Maizey.
Memorial services will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday June 24, 2018 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman, officiated by Pastor Mark Welch. To leave online condolences please visit havenbrookfuneralhome.com
