Tribute

Lenore Smith Piekarsky Collier, 87, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019.  She was born April 3, 1932, in Pennsylvania, to the late Victor and Violet Smith.  Living in Hershey and Palmyra, PA, she graduated from Hershey High School in 1950.  She studied at the Lebanon Valley Conservatory of Music in Annville, PA, the University of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma City Community College, earning a degree in business.

 

Lenore worked for the Liberty Mortgage Company of Liberty National Bank for nearly 20 years, retiring as an Assistant Vice President in 1997.  She was a member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang as choir soprano soloist for many years and was active in the Fellowship Class.  She recorded books for the Oklahoma City Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.  In her retirement, Lenore enjoyed gardening, reading, her Methodist Women’s Circle, her church, her time volunteering for the Norman Regional Hospital and serving as a docent in the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History.  Her life was made beautiful by her husband, Carl.

 

She is survived by her husband, Carl; two sons, David Piekarsky of Lake Dallas, TX, and Daniel Piekarsky and wife Beth of Bloomington, Indiana; grandchildren, Dillon, Kaitlin, William and Christopher Piekarsky; her nieces, Barbara Blouch of Norman, and Lenore Trotter of OH; and nephews, Steven Smith and Raymond Smith, Jr. both of PA.  In addition to her parents, Lenore was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Grace Smith; and her former husband, Edwin Piekarsky.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019, at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Norman I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
