Tribute

Lisa Gaye Henderson, of Dallas, Texas, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019. She was born August 22, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan to George and Barbara Henderson.  She grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, and graduated from Norman High School in 1982.  After graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1986, she moved to Dallas where she was an elementary special education life skills teacher in L. L. Hotchkiss and Tom C. Gooch Elementary Public Schools.  She was teacher of the year at Hotchkiss.  Lisa loved her students and they returned her love in more than ample portions.  Truth be told, she took much pride in her student scholars, as she called them.

Lisa enjoyed operas, was a die-hard OU Sooners fan, and loved cooking.  Above all else, she loved her family and numerous friends.  Lisa always had a pleasant outlook and was concerned about the needs of others before herself.  Family and friends will miss the uplifting morning quotes that she posted on Facebook.

Survivors include her parents, George and Barbara Henderson of Norman; four sisters: Faith Henderson Mosley of Norman; Joy Henderson Baldwin of Norman; Dawn Johnson of Norman; and Lea Ann Harris of Arizona; nieces and nephews who she loved dearly: Kimberly Clift of Norman, Taylor Johnson of New York; Sterlin  Mosley of Norman; Robert Alexander Zabel of Norman; Jordan Johnson of Moore; Louis Richard Arboisiere of Arizona; Isaiah Clift of Norman;  Cy Murr of Arizona; and many friends.

Lisa was preceded in death by her brother George Henderson, Jr.; sister Michele Henderson; and adopted sister Jessica Henderson.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.  A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior.

Memorial contributions may be made to the George Henderson, Jr. Scholarship Fund, ℅ The University of Oklahoma Foundation, 100 Timberdell Road, Norman, OK 73019-0685, or the American Cancer Society..
