Her father was employed as an oilfield surveyor and the family moved multiple times to multiple states.  Jane attended 39 schools in her first six grades. By junior high Jane and her mother settled in Chickasha, Oklahoma where she attended St. Joseph’s Academy, graduating in 1967 as salutatorian. That year she was Chickasha’s “Junior Miss.” She entered OU as a freshmen drama major. In May of 1968 she married Barry Sarber, and the couple began a four-year stint in the USAF. In 1972 she started a 12-year career with Southwestern Bell rising to Security Communications Manager. She returned to college and earned a BS in psychology from Washington University in Saint Louis; moved to Princeton, New Jersey where she earned an MA and began a 25-year career as a licensed School Psychologist and Psychometrist working in Career Development at institutions of higher learning all over Oklahoma. Jane was a past president of Oklahoma College Testing Personnel and a longtime member of the National College Testing Association. Jane was extremely intelligent, kind, generous, loving, and loyal. She was highly respected in both her professional and personal life. She had an amazing sense of humor, a wry quick wit and loved to laugh.

Her interests in politics led her to serve as a Cleveland County Election official for several years. Jane was a longtime member of St. Thomas More University Parish in Norman, OK where she served on the Parish Council and participated in the building fund drive for the new church building and was a great believer in Social Justice. She was an avid sports fan and Sooner supporter. She was a golfer and volunteered at the PGA tournaments held in Oklahoma.
