Tribute

Marian Lalli, a cherished resident of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on April 18, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on November 12, 1927, in Bache, Oklahoma, to James Asahel Garrett and Ruby Dell Garrett (Valentine).

Marian possessed an extraordinary artistic talent that illuminated every aspect of her life.  Her passion for painting, drawing, decorating, and arranging flowers brought beauty and joy to all who knew her.  On November 10, 1949, she married the love of her life, Virgil Lalli, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship.  Marian was a devoted mother to three wonderful sons, whose lives she enriched with her boundless love and unwavering support.

One of Marian’s greatest joys was nurturing the next generation.  She adored her nieces and delighted in spoiling them with shopping trips, selecting dresses, and sharing her makeup tips.  Marian had a heart for Jesus which resulted in her generosity to extend beyond her family, as she dedicated over 20 years to teaching the 5th and 6th grade girls Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of her students.

Marian possessed a unique gift for hospitality, which she graciously shared with all who crossed her threshold.  Her home was a haven of warmth and laughter, where she welcomed friends and family with open arms.  She delighted in hosting gatherings and events, effortlessly creating an atmosphere of love and camaraderie.  Marian’s love for her community was evident in her involvement in various clubs, including the bridge club and gardening club, which she hosted with flair and enthusiasm.

Friday nights held a special place in Marian’s heart, as they meant a trip to the beauty parlor followed by dinner at Charleston’s.  Her love for life’s simple pleasures and her zest for creating memorable moments endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Marian’s legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.  She leaves behind a treasure trove of memories captured through her lens and legacy of love that will continue to inspire generations to come.  May her soul rest in eternal peace, knowing she brought immeasurable joy to the world.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, James Asahel and Ruby Garrett; husband Virgil Lalli; son Philip Lalli; brothers, Kenneth Garrett, Jim Garrett, and Bob Garrett; and grandson-in-law, Dr. Daniel Hills.
